As we are told that cultural attaché positions will be axed in French embassies, we, the selection committee, must deliver our verdict, keeping only some sixty international short films from the 1100 we received.
Difficult mission, excluding while taking into account today’s context, in which everything is done to destroy culture. So, of our combats will be through our choices to bring to light the diversity of short films. This diversity is one of the main richnesses of a creativity contributing to the professional development for the artists and the opening towards other horizons for the audiences. Thus, quality and diversity are the main definitions of our selection.
Through the number of countries they represent (24), the stories told by the films (63), the variety of styles and musical genres, the aesthetic pursuit and the creativity of the film making, our wish is to invite you to discover short films for all, bringing us closer either through their value, their sensitivity, their humanity or their commitment. Life is a struggle. Don’t we know it? So is culture. We thank all those who create to offer us a new breath…getting out of our daily life, searching for artistic curiosity, simply to make us live.
