The SiRAR
Towards a Euro- Mediterranean young cinematographic creation workshop
Many of you went to the cinema in 2010 to see “Des hommes et des dieux” by Xavier Beauvois. This filmmaker took his first steps with the Cinematographic Research and Experiments Group, the G.R.E.C, essential and faithful partner of the regional production support site (SiRAR). It was in 1986 and his short film was entitled “Le matou”. It is always moving to think of those careers, that systems of support like ours, were able to help. And it is without a doubt not by chance that Michael Lonsdale, supporter of G.R.E.C for many years, and supporter of the Aubagne Film Festival, inhabits “Des hommes et des dieux” with his profound humanity. SiRAR presents this year, two debut works, one fiction and the other animation. Full of talent and promise, these two films confirm the scope of our creation project in Aubagne of a Euro-Mediterranean cinematographic creation support workshop and musical creation for image. In the future, several short film projects could therefore be selected, and following the outcome of a working collaboration undertaken with cinema and film music professionals, have the possibility of being produced. The almost unusual of convergence of the partners of this operation (Ville d’Aubagne, Région PACA, SACEM, Université de Provence, G.R.E.C, Ministère de la Culture: Céfédem-Sud, Panavison, Fujifilm, France 3 Méditerranée, INA Méditerranée...) must be acknowledged and each one thanked for their trust. The perspective and dynamic of Marseilles-Provence European Culture Capital 2013 have already largely contributed to the emergence and development of what already appears to be a unique place on the national map, in terms of education, exchange, creation and research.
